Sara Decker is a vocalist and composer whose studies took her from Maastricht Conservatory to the Manhattan School of Music in New York. With Yo Toco, she brings together her love of jazz, Brazilian music and improvisation.

The story
Built over years, played in the moment.
Vocalist Sara Decker, Spanish guitarist David Minguillón and drummer/percussionist Jeroen Truyen met while studying at the Maastricht Conservatory. What began there grew into a long-running band with its own shared timing, trust and sense of play.
With bassist David Andrés, the core trio expands into a quartet. Latin jazz and Brazilian music form the meeting point, but the band’s identity comes from what happens between the notes: rhythmic detail, improvisation and musicians who leave room for one another.
Yo Toco tours as an independent project and is now preparing the release of its forthcoming debut album, Saudades—a record shaped by years of concerts, friendship and a musical language developed together.

Four musicians whose shared history turns Latin jazz and Brazilian music into a living conversation.
David Minguillón
Spanish guitarist David Minguillón works across classical music, jazz, flamenco and contemporary music. He met Sara and Jeroen while studying in Maastricht. Their long-standing musical connection forms the heart of Yo Toco.
David Andrés
Cologne-based bassist David Andrés works with small jazz ensembles, big bands and orchestras. Playing double bass and electric bass, he expands Yo Toco’s founding trio into a quartet.
Jeroen Truyen
Jeroen Truyen is a Dutch drummer and producer. His connection with Sara and David Minguillón goes back to their studies in Maastricht. He plays drums and percussion in Yo Toco and has helped shape its music from the beginning.
